Use cases - what have we done with our robot

Robot Cocktail Waiter

We used Magni as a base to develop a drink serving application, which we call Partybot. The robot uses facial and body detection to locate and drive towards faces, and pause at each one allowing the person to pick up drinks. The entire program was written in only 8 hours, demonstrating how the combination of ROS and Magni allows fast development of robot applications.

Telepresence

Add a tablet and a Web control inteface, and you can be up and running a Teleoperated robot in less than a day. Now you can check up on the kids or even play hide and seek with the grand kids.

Robotic Baggage Porter

Carrying your own stuff around is so 20th century. Why not have the robot do it? We developed a robot that was able to follow its owner around. The huge payload capacity of Magni really does take a load off. We can say that after a couple of days of having one of these things carrying everything for you, you don't really want to go back to carrying stuff yourself.

Education

Loki's low cost makes it highly accessible to use in an educational environment. By starting with a highly capable platform, students are able to guickly develop their own applications and master ROS.

 Raspberry Pi3 Image Downloads – This contains all of main computer Software. You can start trying this before you have a robot.

 Ubiquity Robotics Github Repository - Most of our code is open source, please download, code and most importantly contribute back to our community. Please also post bugs you find as github issues.

1984-2011

1984-2011 Several current members build home-brew robots as individuals.

2012

2012 First call to action "We can go further together." Work on 1st generation starts - 12 tasks of Hercules challenge given. Group grows to 100.

2013

2013 Group featured in Make Magazine Wins Coca-Cola Hackathon Group grows to 200 - 2nd generation robot development begins with Chinese suppliers.

2014

2014 Group featured in book "The Risk Factor" Maker Faire Finalist - Group grows to 300.

2015

2015 3rd generation robot developed - Group professionalizes and consolidates to a core group of 20 people.

2016

2016 4th generation robot developed - Supply chain developed - Design perfected - Group featured in the book: "The People Equation"

2017
